Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about Online Counseling with Ary

What happens during the first counseling session?

It’s normal and totally ok to feel nervous about starting therapy. Because of this, we take the time to get to know each other at our first session, because good and effective therapy requires that we build a trusting relationship. I’ll review the policies you will have already read, answer any questions you may have, and move forward by asking how you are. You will have plenty of time to tell me your story, and my job will be to listen and ask questions about what’s been happening. And that’s it! From there, together we will decide when to meet next, and I’ll give you my recommendations for a treatment plan. Easy-peasy.

How often will I need to come to counseling?

I always recommend that we meet on a weekly basis starting out. You’re more likely to feel progress and see a difference if you’re consistent in attending.

How long will I need to come to counseling?

That’s hard to predict. Therapy is a highly personalized process, so it varies from one person to another. I’ve helped people who notice a difference in their mood within a few months. I also help people who feel better, but continue to come to therapy for years because it helps them to maintain an optimal level of wellness. We’ll discuss your unique situation and expectations at our free consult, and I’ll be able to give you a better idea of what you can expect.

How much do sessions cost?

Each 55 minute session is $175. The first time we meet will be for 90 minutes, however, and that is charged at $225.

Are sessions covered by my insurance?

I’m not paneled with any insurance companies, but most PPO insurance plans accept a superbill. This is a special receipt I can give you so that you can be reimbursed for some of the cost you pay upfront. Ask about this on our free consult.

Do you have evening and weekend appointments available?

I don’t meet with clients during the weekends or evenings. One of my roles is being a mom, so I keep a strict schedule to also provide time to my kids.

Where do sessions take place?

As long as you’re in the state of California, it’s all online! Most people have their sessions from the comfort of their own home, with their mug of tea and a cuddly pet nearby. I also meet with professionals that work outside the home, and I try to accommodate their lunch schedule. I use a secure and encrypted video conferencing platform called Simple Practice that sends you reminders and a link to join at your scheduled time.

Who do you work with?

My practice is geared towards helping Latinas and Hispanic mujeres struggling with pre/postpartum issues, career transitions, family of origin wounds, and relationship struggles.

What if counseling isn't working?

That’s not a problem! You decide what’s best for you, and if you want or need to stop, that’s fine. If you think you’d like to work with a different person, I will do my best to help you find the right fit. I’m here to help.

Estoy lista, what’s next?

A 15-minute consultation is the first step. I’ll answer any more questions you have and I’ll let you know how I can help. Give me a phone call. Book the consultation through my online portal. Or send me a message directly through the website.
